We’re Littlepay - a fast growing fintech with offices in London and Melbourne, and the world's only payment processor specialising in the transit and mobility sector. We've developed a payments platform that enables customers to pay for public transport using any payment card, mobile wallet, or wearable device. About the opportunity

We are looking for a talented senior engineer to join our highly skilled team, delivering through technical excellence on our exciting product roadmap and scaling our platform as we continue to expand across the globe.

As a Senior Software Engineer in our Payments team, you will take end-to-end ownership of a system that is responsible for processing customer payments, as well as the delivery of applicable products and insights, adding value for internal and external customers. You will have an impact by developing, delivering & supporting a technical roadmap (including platforms, production-quality APIs, workflows and tools) in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders, and provide technical leadership (through mentoring, design, and code reviews) to others in your team. You’ll collaborate closely with Service Operations, Platform and Engineering Management to plan for multiple initiatives at once, and build performant, sustainable, and maintainable technologies and code.

From a technology standpoint, you'll work with Java/Spring/NodeJs microservices, open source, AWS technologies (ECS/RDS/DynamoDB/S3/SQS/APIGateway/Lambda), and IaC (Cloudformation).

About you

Ideally, you'll have:

• A passion for collaborative product development and the need for writing clean, maintainable, well tested code
• At least 3 years (for midlevel) or 5 years (for senior) of relevant professional experience in Java software development
• Experience developing software in a cloud-hosted environment (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Some RESTful API experience
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices, and the desire to advocate for ongoing best practices and continuous improvement
• An awesome attitude and a collaborative nature to share your knowledge
• The desire to solve complex and interesting problems in an agile team setting - you’re curious, proactive and self-motivated with the willingness to learn, fail, and try again
• The ability to comprehend, co-ordinate, and communicate clearly and effectively on a wide range of issues (both technical and non-technical) with colleagues

Our recruitment process

If you’ve been shortlisted for the role, you’ll first have a chat with our Head of Talent, who will set up an interview if the stars align. A short workplace preferences questionnaire will also be sent to help us to learn more about the way you prefer to work. Following a successful first interview, you’ll be sent a technical exercise to complete, before meeting with a second set of Littlepay folks for a final time.
